Areas to stay. Liberty Bowl and Graceland

My husband and I are coming down the end of the month to watch the liberty bowl. I want to see Graceland and he wants to see the game.

Can you give any tips on what area to stay in Memphis? Or where not to stay? It will be for one night possibly two nights. We know Beale street is the hot night spot. Any other tips? Like I said other than the game graceland is all I have planned and then maybe a night of dinner and a few drinks.

I would like to keep the room under 150 a night.

Thanks in advance.

Anywhere downtown should be fine, as long as it%26#39;s a well known hotel chain. The Peabody is great, but I doubt it is less than $150 a night. The Madison Hotel is great, again, expensive. And there%26#39;s a Hampton, Holiday Inn, etc.

The area around the stadium is not the best. In terms of close to it though....there is a Holiday Inn on the campus of the U. of Memphis that would be nice. That would be just a short distance from the stadium, and they might even have a shuttle to the game.

If you are going to see a particular team (I don%26#39;t even know who is playing) you should go to that school%26#39;s athletics website, and normally they list the hotels for the fans. IE...normally the school will provide ';bowl tour'; packages, which you don%26#39;t seem to be doing, but at least then you%26#39;ll get an idea of the hotels where everyone else is staying.

The Peabody runs around $220-225 a night. I would recommend staying downtown, probably at the Hampton.
