Hi all,
I just returned Friday from Gatlinburg, spending several days there to deep clean and do maintenance and repairs on our two cabins. My sister-in-law and I enjoyed the peace and quiet of the post-Thanksgiving period--no lines, no traffic jams...yeah! We scrubbed, we bleached, we shopvac-ed, you name it. But each night we treated ourselves to dinner. Texas Roadhouse was delicious as usual; always a winner in my book even though it%26#39;s a chain.
I wanted to thank those of you who had recommended Cherokee Grill as a nice place for dinner. It was excellent--service, food and atmosphere. I had the philly cheesesteak sandwich and my SIL had the teriyaki steak, which she practically inhaled. Her salad came with a chilled plate and fork which she thought was the cat%26#39;s meow. And the complimentary warm, crusty herb bread (tomato basil maybe?) with whipped butter was outstanding. The fireplace was roaring away right behind us and the atmosphere was perfect for a romantic dinner for two or a gathering of friends and family. Prices were reasonable for the quality of dining experience...our dinner tab for two was $22 (drinking water and coffee).
Mountain Man was right...the construction on the Parkway in Gatlinburg has begun (underground cabling/wiring). They started down by the Mountain Mall and are working toward the park. I think they%26#39;re just past the Mountain Mall now. If you%26#39;re headed to Gatlinburg at Christmas, it might be a bit of a bottleneck. Maybe they%26#39;ll close construction for the parade and holiday visitors?? I%26#39;d stay on River Rd. as much as possible.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Thanks for the advice.
Since we have been to Gatlinburg a number of times, we want to try a couple of new places.
We will definately add this one!

I%26#39;m sure they will have all lanes open and flowing for Christmas. The local goverments are frantic about the traffic issues here.
Cherokee grill is owned by the same people that own Calhoun%26#39;s and the brewery. Calhoun%26#39;s is still one of my favorites.
