mid December weather and things to do

Just found out we%26#39;ll be going to the mountains on December 19th through 21st. We%26#39;ve never been during winter at all. I%26#39;m concerned about the weather, what%26#39;s it like? We only plan on being in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville, probably won%26#39;t venture into the park any. Easy driving?

Keep in mind we%26#39;re Mississippi folk...we never see snow or anything worse than a wee bit of ice on the road a couple of times a year.

Anything to see or do that is a *must* this time of year?

I *bump* myself...

Anyone care to share their thoughts on this?

Snow to speak of is rare within the cities of GB/PF and Sevierville.

In the park is a different story. And you should check your travel route from Mississippi carefully.

Personally, I think Dollywood at this time of year is a MUST!

If you like Christmas and all the trimmings, you will love it!

They have some really wonderful Christmas shows there as well!

Well worth the price!

As for the weather, well, we live in the snow belt and have 2 feet right now!

Yikes!

Thanks for the replies. We%26#39;ll be staying at the Comfort Inn Apple Valley in Sevierville. It%26#39;s our favorite place to stay!

As I said, we%26#39;ve never ever been to TN during December (or winter really). I%26#39;ve never driven in real winter situations before. I just didn%26#39;t know what it was like up there during mid-December.

I%26#39;m sure we%26#39;ll take in our usuals: Hard Rock Cafe and the Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg and the Alabama Grill and NASCAR Cafe in Sevierville.

Are the outlet malls and shops open this time of year? Hillbilly golf?

Weather here is fine, very cold but no snow as of yet. Wear warm clothing, wind is pretty brisk right now. As far as attractions, everything is open through new years. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that reply! We are trying to plan accordingly and are packing all kinds of clothes. I just don%26#39;t want to see any ICE.

We%26#39;re leaving in the morning (Sunday)! I hope it%26#39;s nice up there, at least till Wednesday afternoon.

:)

maybe a bit fo snow on the trees wnt hurt as long as it isnt on the roads, i think it would be pretty on te trees and on the mountians and whatnot just not on the roads.

We got home last night. Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Sevierville was perfect! Blue skies, mid 20s in the mornings and low 40s for the highs. No bad weather at all! The drive up and back went smoothly. The traffic wasn%26#39;t bad around town either.

If anyone has any questions about our trip, I%26#39;d be glad to help. I%26#39;m going to review our pictures (mostly of Christmas lights) and post a link to those soon.

Oh, and you MUST eat at Rocky River Grill in Sevierville at Governor%26#39;s Crossing!! The best burger and potato soup I%26#39;ve ever eaten!

Here%26#39;s a few pics from our trip. Check %26#39;em out!
