Summer Vacation--weekly rentals?

Hi all,

As many of you know I have two rental cabins in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. I could use your input: do you take week long vacations in the summer, or just short trips? And if you do come for the week, do you prefer a Fri to Fri or Sat to Sat stay?

At my Pigeon Forge cabin with the big view, I already have 4 weeks booked. But the other, more secluded one close to Gatlinburg has only one week rented next summer. Just wondered if maybe we%26#39;d do better with having an ';open'; calendar for that rental. We did weekly stays only from June through August this year at both cabins.

I know a lot of owners wonder about weekly rentals and if they should do them in the summer. We always provide a free night, so it works out to $131.66/night. Pretty reasonable for a premium rental cabin. But financially we don%26#39;t do as well giving away that free night. That%26#39;s why I%26#39;m sort of wrestling with this issue.

Since many of you are avid travelers to the area, I%26#39;d appreciate any personal thoughts and insight you can provide. It will definitely help me make a decision. Thanks!

we use to go 2 times a year first trip was main vacation 7 nights then in winter we would go for maybe 3 or 4 nights.we only go once a year know ,we are going to florida in feb but im hoping we can get to the smokies sometime this year maybe this summer and i also was wondering if you have a website for your cabins or if you email pictures so people can see,we are always looking for places to stay in the smokies please let me know how to get in contact with you,thanks

We never stay for a full week.

Generally we do arrival on Sunday depart on Thursday...last time we did do Saturday - depart on Tuesday due to family schedules working out better that way.

If it were just the two of us we might try a week but with planning around all our kids schedules (since they can%26#39;t seem to not go on vacation with us...haha) then it makes it harder to do a whole week.

Normally when we do a vacation we stay for a whole week.

Say Thursday to Thursday and then we have the weekend to recoupe before returning to work.

i just found this site by accident....cabins are not onto of each other....on the map you can click on the cabin and it will show you pictures...prices are very reasonable....have not stayed here...maybe someone has and wld let us kn.....
