Nashville New Year's Eve - Coming from Kalamazoo

Help us out, Nashville. Kristin and I are single women in our mid-30s who want to avoid entering 2006 doing the same old things in Kalamazoo MI. So, we%26#39;re coming down to Nashville to drink a little beer, dance, and hear some good old bluegrass or country music. Ideas?

We%26#39;ve heard good things about the Fiddle and Steel and Lonnie%26#39;s and Printer%26#39;s Alley in general. Hole in the wall bars suit us fine. Anywhere else we should go?

We%26#39;re looking for safe/cheap lodging as well for Friday 12/30 and Sat 12/31. Nothing fancy is okay, safe is our #1 concern.

Also, Kristin plays guitar and sings. She wants to pick up some sheet music while we%26#39;re there, ideas on good shops for that?

As far as eats, we%26#39;re looking for local diners, good cooking, and a lack of tour buses. Ideas?

Thanks so much. Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Amy

Nashville New Year's Eve - Coming from Kalamazoo

I don%26#39;t know about the specific events that are going on in downtown Nashville on New Year%26#39;s Eve yet, but I just wanted to give you a little info to get you started.

In addition to Lonnie%26#39;s/Printer%26#39;s Alley, you can have a great time at the ';honkey tonks'; on Broadway. I don%26#39;t even like country music all that much, and I%26#39;ve had a great time at these places! Tootsie%26#39;s, Robert%26#39;s, all those places are fun, and I think you should give them a try.

As far as hotels, I just did a Mobissimo travel search looking for lodging 12/30 and 12/31, and it looks like your best bet for location, price, and safety might be the Days Inn Music Row/Vanderbilt. It%26#39;s $99/night. Here%26#39;s a link: daysinn.com/DaysInn/…

Have fun in Nashville!

Nashville New Year's Eve - Coming from Kalamazoo

Amy, This year%26#39;s big New Year%26#39;s Eve concert is Brooks and Dunn with Big and Rich at Gaylord. The Bluegrass Inn and WildHorse Salon are on 2nd ave, Boardway also has Jim and Layla%26#39;s.

Are you flying in or driving?

Some of the better hotel have downtown shuttle service. In the downtown area are Hilton, Doubletree, Renaissance and Sheraton.

The Hilton is the newest and very nice, you might look into the Embassy Suites by Vanderbilt. They offer complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast each morning, Evening Manager’s Reception and Shuttle service within a 2-mile radiuses (my wife company uses them for out of town speakers).

Try Jack%26#39;s bar-b-que on Broadway, The White Trash Cafe for a meat and three and Rotier%26#39;s on Elliston Place.

If you have time go by The Bluebird Cafe (Green Hills area).

Amy,WoW Brooks and Dunn with Big and Rich that would be fun for New Year%26#39;s eve they rock in concert. You should check out some of the honky tonks on Broadway the day before and after the concert. The Holiday Inn on broadway is in a great location near both the concert and Honky tonks. The Holiday inn is the only hotel that doesn%26#39;t charge parking and they have a free breakfast.I wish I could go to the concert and Honky tonks I love going to Nashville. If you decided to go to the concert you should get tickets of of their website.Have a great time.

You should eat at the Wild horse saloon they have free country line dancing and it is a lot of fun.It is one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville.

We are coming from Ohio for New Years

in Nashville.WE are staying at the Renaissance

which is walking distance to all the fun places.

The Hilton which is a bit more pricy

is also a great location.Jacks is great barbeque

place and the Palm is an excellent steak house.

If you like drinking beer, there are about

30 bars/honkey tonks/pubs/clubs all within a mile

from one another on and around Broadway

and 2nd ave.Kristen should bring her guitar,

a few of the places on Broadway allow people

to perform for tips during the afternoon.

Have fun!!!

I%26#39;m just a little younger than you are, and my favorite places in town are all on Broadway. I don%26#39;t care for Printer%26#39;s Alley except for Bourbon Street Blues. None of the country bars on Broadway charge a cover, so you can hop around until you find what you%26#39;re looking for.

As for restaurants, I suggest Jack%26#39;s on Broadway, Casabona on Broadway, Pancake Pantry in Hillsboro Village. If you%26#39;re driving, it%26#39;s worth the effort to make a twenty-minute drive from downtown out to the Loveless Cafe.

Have a good time!

library.nashville.org has a page of links you should see.

the nash convention bureau has a list of hotels. the downtown hotels run around 150 but you can go a mile down broadway/west end and get rooms for 80-100. These are the average prices, i don%26#39;t know what the new years prices are.

You might want to take the one hour tour that leaves at the hard rock, it goes to all the main places. It cost 12 dollars.

There is lots of country music, but the bluegrass inn next door to tootsies has more of a bluegrass format.

Camp2520, My friend and I are coming up to nashville, from Tampa, Fl, for New Years. We are both single men that just turned 30. Want to meet for a Beer on broadway on friday night? We normally hang out around The Bluegrass Inn on broadway. Let me know,

Ken

My husband and I live here from Grand Rapids Michigan, both of us early 30%26#39;s. We don%26#39;t know where we are going. Would you like an apartment for the night? My mother also lives here and she will be going to Minnesota for new years eve. Available and the neighbor guys across are single and one writes sheet music!

Too funny I%26#39;m coming down from Lansing for the same reason.. solo.. any good musical acts in town? Along the lines of a Nanci Griffith or a Lyle Lovett.. some country but not too much.. unknowns are fine

I%26#39;ve heard about the Bluebird Cafe and plan on doing that Friday night..
