Chattanooga Experts Plz give us some advice on our trip

My husband and I and our two kids are planning on driving from Tampa to Chattanooga in November, the weekend before Thanksgiving. I think we are planning on staying at the Hilton Garden Inn...reviews gave it thumbs up. We love the mountains and horses...can you recommend where we can go to ride horses by the mountains.

Also, what are some of the things we can do with our 11 and 16 year old for fun.

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Chattanooga Experts Plz give us some advice on our trip

Hi,

I am an employee of the Country Inn and Suites in Chattanooga, TN. We are located on the outskirts of Chattanooga, where you can get a view of the mountains. We have rocking chairs on our front porch, which people always say they love, so they can see the view. This is a great, safe area for you to bring your family. Good places to go, with your kids is Rock City, Ruby Falls, and the Incline. We are located 10 min or so from these attractions. I have heard that the Chickamauga Battlefields have horse back riding, and its absolutely beautiful there. I drive there all the time. Also, we are only 6 miles from downtown, where you can go to the Tennessee Aquarium, and the IMAX Theatre. We also have a riverfront walkway which has been newly built with fountains and the like. Its a great place to go during the day. The leaves are just starting to turn now, and its very pretty. If you would like to book a suite with us, (2 rooms, bedroom and living room, 2 tv%26#39;s, great for when ya%26#39;ll want to watch something and they want to watch cartoons!) either call me, Kate, at 423-825-6100, or go to our website, countryinns.com.

Thanks!! I hope that was enough information!!

Chattanooga is a beautiful city this time of year. The leaves are starting to turn and the nights are chilly and the day time hours great.

For horseback riding there are stables located at Chickamauga Battlefield (but they are guide only tours)

There is also one located in Ringgold Georgia (10 minutes south of East Ridge, TN) named Hartland Ranch - their number is 706/935-8457 should you wish to call them for more information.

There are alot of great hotels in Chattanooga, but if you are going to ride in Ringgold, Georgia and do the downtown Chattanooga attractions, the Holiday Inn Express East Ridge is great. They would be located between the two. They are a quality hotel with very clean rooms and a really friendly staff. You can%26#39;t go wrong with that hotel.

Thank you Nursegoodbody for the advice

There is a great riding stable on the outskirts of chattanooga, Its about 15 mintues away from downtown thogh. I will find out more info for you as I pass by it on my way home from work everyday.

You should plan to stay in the downtown area if possile, as they have free shuttles and you%26#39;re close to the major attractions such as the Imax, Childrens Museum and the Aqurium. Lookout and Ruby Falls are a short drive up the mountain. There is also a river boat you can take short cruises up and down the river, they also offer dinner and lunch cruise depending on time of year. The Choo Choo is a favorite of children as you can ride the trolly and look at the old locomotives as well. Chattanooga isn%26#39;t a tough town to get around, so driving to different places to sight see is very easy.

The Hilton downtown is good and I agree with daPro - I%26#39;d stay downtown too. Much easier to get around.

AND, as much as I hate to say, if mountains and horseback riding are really important you might want to continue on past Chatt. and go up to the Smokies (Great Smoky Mountains National Park). It will be about three more hours north from Chatt. Even though I live here in Chatt., I grew up at the foot of the Smokies.

Also, remember we will be quite a bit colder than what you are used to in Tampa.

Good luck wherever you end up..........

The choo cho is fun but if your kids like trains go to the tennessee railroad museum. They have tons and tons of engines, a museum and you can ride a steam engine too!

If you like fishes at all the Aquarium is a must. It%26#39;s the largest freshwater aquarium in the world, and they recently went through a 30 million dollar salt-water expansion. You can throw in an IMAX movie for $4. Also there%26#39;s the Chattanooga Zoo, small, but really cheap- only $6 adult 3$ child. They also recently expanded.

Make sure to check out the riverfront; the passage, Coolidge Park, walnut street bridge. While you%26#39;re over by Coolidge Park make sure to get an ice cream at Clumpies.

On Lookout Mtn. I would only recommend Rock City and Point Park ($1). Ruby Falls and the Incline are too commercialized and expensive.

Heres some info concerning horse riding stables. Not sure much about them other than location and contact info so please call ahead and ask questions.
