October in Chattanooga: Color tours

My mother, daughter and I will be visiting Chattanooga the weekend of Oct. 21. We%26#39;re interested in a good local driving color tour route for Saturday the 22nd.

Any Ideas?

Any good ideas where to get a great Picnic Lunch to take along?

October in Chattanooga: Color tours

Well,

I would suggest going to the Chattanooga nature center and walk down their nature trail (about 20 minutes) and looking at their wonderful animals. THEN for just a little more you can drive through their car trail called reflection riding. The falls colors on the mountain and through the riding are fabulous, dont forget your camera. The nature center is very close to ruby falls and rock city. It doesnt cost much to do all that sthere either like 4.50 or somthing.

As far as food there are many fast food or small stores around to put a good picnic together that are located along the way to lookout mountian from any direction.

Then if thats not enough fall colors for you try going as far as you can on Lookout Mountain parkway, Take a map so you wont get lost, if you make it fsr enough down the parkway checkout cloudland canyon and desoto falls, both are great in the fall but some driving IS required to get to them.

NOW

I MUST RECOMEND A CRUISE ON THE RIVER BOAT! they have several fall cruises for the purpose of viewing fall foilage. The Fall Color cruise is the best but youll get here too early for that one, but there is a great one going on while youll be here, its called the fall leaf cruise and they feed you too!!!!

This is your best bet to make the most of the fall colors on your trip!

You can also drive up to the Cleveland area (Exit 20 off I-75) to the Ocoee River gorge. Hwy. 64 runs along the river in the mountains. It is probably one of the most beautiful drives in America. As you get towards the part of the road that actually runs along the river, there is a great pizza/sandwich restaurant called the Ocoee Gondolier. You can eat there or get it to go. At the east end of the gorge is the Whitewater Center. You can keep going farther into the mountains from there or turn around and head back into Chattanooga.

Yes, I didnt even think about it, the Ocoee is pretty also.

Heres a link to lookoutmountain parkway and all teh things most visitors dont even know thats there.

Thank you for your suggestions. I%26#39;ve been to Chattanooga a few times, so I%26#39;ve seen Ruby Falls, Rock City ect... but these drives sound like a great way to explore the rest of the area.

Thanks

By chance do you like haunted houses? Ruby falls has one in the cave I would recommend and there are some other ones I can tell you about if you like. After all the time your coming down would be perfect for a scare or two.

I went to Rock City yesterday, hoping to see the fall colors from the top of Lookout Mountain. It was a beautiful day but the leaves haven%26#39;t turned yet. The prettiest leaves we saw were the trees on the road leading up the mountain. Otherwise, the fall leaves are just starting so perhaps the peak will be next weekend. Since there hasn%26#39;t been much rain in the past couple of months the waterfall was non-existent. My husband hadn%26#39;t been to Rock City so I was disappointed when he didn%26#39;t get to see the it but I hope we%26#39;ll go back in the future since we only live an hour away.

I live one hour south of Chattanooga and the leaves are gorgeous here and toward Atlanta as of yesterday, Sunday, Nov. 6.

Yes the leaves are at the poiint now that certain parts of chattanooga, the mountains, the country etc. are absolutly breathtaking.
