Family Renunion in East Tennessee

Does anyone have any suggestions for a place to hold a family reunion? We would like accomodations on a lake, with launch facilities for our boats and availability of houseboat rentals. We would probably have some people camping and others needing motels.

It would also be good to be within driving distance of Knoxville or another interesting town.

Thank you for your help. I have always enjoyed my visits to Tennessee.

You might check out Norris Dam State Park or Big Ridge State Park. Just search for Tennessee State Parks. Or for something a little more remote but absolutely beautiful take a look at Fontana Lake and Fontana Village.

Another vote for Norris Dam state park. Norris Lake is great for boating, and has nice marinas. Plus, the park isn%26#39;t too far from Clinton where there are some motels and restaraunts, and you could get from the park to Knoxville in about 30 minutes.

Big Ridge is a little too far out of the way to be convenient for people staying in motels, but it%26#39;s a nice park for camping.

Why stay in a hotel when both parks have nice cabins?

What about Bayside Marina on Watts Bar Lake. I%26#39;ve never been, but came across it on the web. They have houseboat rentals, a restaurant, and cabins. It looks like it is very close to Knoxville!

Not a bad spot either but Watts Bar is not nearly as nice a lake as Norris.

Being a lifetime resident of Knoxville, I would say that Chattanooga would be a MUCH more interesting town to visit. I don%26#39;t know about their lake or boating situation, but as far as the city itself - I think it%26#39;s much nicer than Knoxville (sorry to say).
