Where in WV did you say you were from?
In my personal opinion the Blue Ridge Parkway is much more breathtaking than the Smokies. It also tends to be much less crowded most of the year.
How far away is the Blue Ridge Parkway from Gatlinburg?

I agree with Coastermeister, The Blue Ridge Parkway is a prettier drive.
My family is from around Jane Lew, WV.
We will have to rent a car because we would like to fly to TN.
The Smokies and Blue Ridge are both gorgeous but in different ways. You can see them both if you are staying in Gatlinburg. Take US Route 411 through the Great Smoky Mtn. National Park then go left onto the Blue Ridge Parkway right before you enter the town of Cherokee NC.

How far is Grandfater Mountain from Gatlinburg? or Biltmore estates?
I think Gatlinburg sounds nice and it is close to other nice places.
Grandfather Mountain is quite a ways up the Parkway. The Parkway is a curvy slow drive and you won%26#39;t make good time on it. May want to spend the night in Asheville if you go that far.
Is it worth it to spend a night in Ashville?
