Avoid Best Western Greenbrier Inn

Our family just returned from Pigeon Forge. Do NOT stay at the Best Western Greenbrier Inn, 711 Parkway. In all the years we%26#39;ve been going to PF, this was the single worst motel experience we ever had. It is one of the oldest motels in the area, about 30 yrs old. All doors open to the outside, and the motel is very close to the parkway. This makes for a very high noise level in the rooms. Housekeeping ignores Do Not Disturb signs and begins banging on all doors at 7:00 a.m. We were still in bed, and the maid started opening the door, even with us screaming at her to go away. The motel owner was not concerned about this and believed we were making a big fuss about nothing. Right behind me walked in two more guests with the same complaint and still, the owner thought it was no big deal. This place books several large tour bus groups, and the buses block so many parking spots that individual guests are forced to park in a shopping center. We worried about our car all night. Then, in the morning, there is no place for the tour groups to asseble, so they use the breakfast room. They occupy tables, talk, drink coffee and refuse to give up tables for families and others who want to eat breakfast. Again, the rude owner told us to get a tray and take food back to our room. What food? There was none left. This motel advertises high-speed internet, but it is only available on the third floor, and you are never told this when you book a room. The air conditioning units are very old and very noisy. Your bill and registration are done the old fashioned way, with handwritten bills and registration cards, which slows everything to a crawl at busy times. This motel has multiple problems, and the owner could care less. This is NOT a family friendly motel. In fact, it is a terrible place for anyone to stay. Avoid this place. Learn from our experience.

We booked this hotel last Thanksgiving and I agree the noise from the traffic and the heating unit are unreal. We went out to eat after checking in and relocated to the Fairfield Inn across from Five Oaks.

I%26#39;m sorry for your bad experience. Nothing ruins a vacation faster than a bad motel; I%26#39;ve stayed at my share in the past, so I know. (Our last trip to St. Louis, we got a room that smelled like a wet dog the entire stay.)

Might I suggest on your next trip to Pigeon Forge that you try the Rodeway Inn up near the south end of the Parkway, just before you leave town heading toward Gatlinburg. This is a very family-friendly, clean, well-kept motel which gives each member of your party a coupon for a free hot pancake breakfast each morning of your visit in the on-site restaurant. They offer very good prices during ';off-season'; times, as low as $24.99, and each room has a mini-fridge and coffee maker with furnished coffee.

This motel has several different room ';types'; to choose from with one or two queen beds. There are smoking/non-smoking, ground floor, handicapped, and other room selections. The entire motel has only two floors, so even if you get a top-floor room, there are ramps you may use to haul your stuff up without needing stairs. Of course, you can use stairs if you like.

Maid service has never been a problem here either during off-season stays. We are typical early risers, but sometimes don%26#39;t get away from the room until after 9:00 AM. Maids don%26#39;t even start around until after 10:00 or so.

We%26#39;ve stayed here at least six or seven trips to the area and I%26#39;ve never had one complaint. The motel is not too close to the road, so road noise isn%26#39;t that bad, and if you get a ';back side'; room, there%26#39;s no noise at all.

Hope this was helpful and that your next trip to the Smokies will be much more pleasant.

Thanks!!
