New Years Eve in Gatlinburg....

We are planning on staying in Gatlinburng for New Years Eve. Although I live in Knoxville this will be the first time we will be up there. We are going with another couple. They have a timeshare at Sunrise Ridge Resort in Pigeon Forge. The major question I have is... Will we be able to ride the Trolley to and from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg that night. As we will probably be drinking and do not want to drive up there with even the littlist of tasty beverage in our system. I called the Chamber of Commerce and they really did not have an answer for me which I found suprising. We will be up there Friday and Saturday night. What should we prepare for? I expect it to be crowded! Any suggestions, or pointers from someone who has been there before!

Thanks

New Years Eve in Gatlinburg....

The New Years Eve celebration in Gatlinburg is a pretty good one. It is a big street party with music and fireworks at midnight. There are bars that will be serving alchohol, but you are not supposed to be drinking in the street (its amazing what you can sneek in a styrofoam cup). I don%26#39;t know about the trolleys, but it will be crowded. Even if there is trolley service they will be stuck in traffic and packed.

Your best bet is to have a designated driver and try to park somewhere between the entrance to Gatlinburg and light number three. If you park past light 3 you could get tied up in traffic trying to get out of town after the fireworks. Our B%26amp;B is near light number two so we just walk home afterwards
