ANOTHER food question(I'm just getting excited about going!)

Well, we have put Calhouns and Cherokee grill on our eating list(with the best italian rest. and not sure on the other places yet)

Since they are owned by the same company, are the menus similar? Is one better for lunch or dinner(that is our problem when we visit we eat so much good stuff that sometimes you%26#39;re not overly hungry)

The Pancake pantry(we have never been) and the Old Mill( I could eat a gallon of the corn chowder!)

We have been to the Peddler(just ok for me) and Park Grille(very hit and miss) and also Maxwells(pretty good)

So, since I have heart such great things, those are the ones on my list.

Anything else? My birthdy is during our trip and I%26#39;m just not sure where to go. I love seafood, but that%26#39;s hard in the mountains. Maybe the Milling company, I am so undecided!

Thanks

ANOTHER food question(I'm just getting excited about going!)

You%26#39;re making me hungry. Haha.

Calhouns and Cherokee Grill are both good places for supper unless you just want to order the House Salad at Cherokee Grill for lunch - which is great.

Their menus are different, Calhouns is a little more casual and they have the best ribs anywhere.

We%26#39;ve eaten lunch at the Pancake Pantry before, ordered the crepes and didn%26#39;t have to wait in line, even got a window seat.

ANOTHER food question(I'm just getting excited about going!)

Hi Lindy,

I%26#39;d definitely save Cherokee for dinner since the ambience is perfect for nighttime. Calhouns I%26#39;d do lunch or dinner, but like the other poster said it%26#39;s more fun and casual so anytime is probably good.

And yeah, you%26#39;re making ME hungry too! Have a great trip.

Here are a few other suggestions:

For lunch

*don%26#39;t miss the Ruben Sandwich at ';Hofbrauhaus Restaurant and Cheese Cupboard'; in the Village.

*';Desserts and more'; in the Village is excellent, but they are closed Jan and Feb, not sure when you are going.

*';Mountain Edge Grill'; in Baskins Square is good, try their Chicken Chili.

*Tureen of Vegie Soup and cornbread at ';The Brass Lantern%26#39; is great and cheap for lunch or a light supper.

*If you go to Dollywood, we ate at a place called ';Grandma Ogles Ham %26amp; Beans'; or something like that. It was very good, especially on a cold evening of looking at the Christmas lights.

For Breakfast

*As everyone knows on this forum, my fav place for breakfast is the Pancake Pantry. It is a must in my book. They have a cream cinamon syrup that is great.

Enjoy your trip and don%26#39;t eat too much!

By all means have breakfast at Pancake Pantry. Have the french toast with cinamon syrup--divine. Also the Old Mill have the Corn Chowder and stop at the Old Mill Store next door and take home a bag to fix later. Alabama Grill is great if for nothing else than the atmosphere if you like the group Alabama.

I am disappointed that the dessert place will be closed in Jan. We are supposed to go the 2nd - 6th(over my birthday!)

One quick side note, my mom is in the hospital(shes 82) and we are hoping she will be fine and ok for us to leave town.

I don%26#39;t want to sound selfish but I do want my mom to be better and go on my trip.

As you all know, we would lose alot if we have to cancel last minute so, I%26#39;m praying it all works out for us.

Take care and thanks sooooo much for the suggestions.

(I need to print out all the recommendations, so I don%26#39;t forget!

Lindy, You may want to check the Desserts and More to make sure they are closed. We spoke to the owner and she said they closed in Jan %26amp; Feb, but you never know, they may still be open in the first few days of Jan.

Good luck, and I hope your mom is well.

here are some places you need to eat at in g-burg:

the best place for dinner --- howard%26#39;s

the place you have to try --- crawdaddy%26#39;s

the thing you eat for lunch just once in your life --- fanny farkle%26#39;s footlong hotdog with onions and peppers!!!

best place for lunch --- texas roadhouse

The Pancake Pantry is good however remember they are on the expensive side and only take cash. It cost my husband and I almost $30.00 to eat breakfast here last summer. For breakfast our favorite choice is Log Cabin Pancake House (the one in Gatlinburg) might want to add this place to the list.

Are you sure Pancake Pantry only takes cash? I could have swore I used our AMEX there before. I know it was no where near $30 for two of us to eat pancakes.........

They only take cash, but there is an atm inside.
